Lupin gets FDA nod for generic Rifadin capsules

Mumbai: Pharma major Lupin on Friday said its US subsidiary Lupin Pharmaceuticals has received final approval for its Rifampin capsules USP, 150 mg and 300 mg strengths from the United States Food and Drugs Administration (FDA).

FDA approves test for simultaneous detection of TB bacteria and resistance to antibiotic rifampin

Washington: The US Food and Drug Administration has allowed marketing of the Xpert MTB/RIF Assay, the first FDA-reviewed test that can simultaneously detect bacteria that cause tuberculosis (TB) and determine if the bacteria contain genetic markers that makes them resistant to rifampin, an important antibiotic for the treatment of TB.
