Draft Bill seeks to introduce Exit Test for MBBS students, 50% reservation in PG medical seats for medical officers

New Delhi: The union health ministry on Thursday unveiled the draft Indian Medical Council (Amendment) Bill 2016 which seeks to mandate medical students to clear the National Exit Test (NEXT) after completing their five-and-a-half-year-long MBBS course in order to practise as a doctor.

Govt planning penal provisions to deter pharma companies from bribing doctors with freebies | Sex determination lands doctor couple in jail for three years

The promised mandatory marketing code for pharma companies, which is to replace the voluntary code in operation since January last year, will have strong penal provisions to deter them from bribing doctors with freebies to prescribe their drugs.

50% PG seats in Madhya Pradesh medical colleges reserved for government doctors

Bhopal: The state government has reportedly decided to reserve 50 percent postgraduation medical seats of government autonomous medical colleges and 50 percent of government quota postgraduation seats in private medical colleges for doctors serving in state-run hospitals and health centres.

Appointments made only after nod by DoPT: AIIMS

Centre urged to probe violation of reservation policy in AIIMS

SC declines relief to Jat students seeking admission to PG medical courses under OBC category

New Delhi (IANS): The Supreme Court said on Tuesday that Jat students would not get the benefit of reservation under the OBC category even if their admission process began before it quashed the government notification extending reservation to the community in nine states.

Medicos demand ‘Institution of Excellence’ status for AIIMS, PGI

Chandigarh: Medicos Legal Action Group (MLAG) has sought the status of ‘Institution of Excellence’ for the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi as defined under Section 4(b) of the Central Educational Institutions (Reservation in Admission) Act, 2006.
