Man with grade-3 fatty liver cured by laparoscopic surgery

New Delhi (IANS): A 30-year-old person, who had developed grade-3 fatty liver and was almost likely to suffer from liver cirrhosis, successfully underwent the gastric sleeve surgery that cured his health disorder completely, doctors said here on Wednesday.

Commonly used diabetes drug may help prevent primary liver cancer

Washington: Metformin, a drug widely used to treat Type II diabetes, may help to prevent primary liver cancer, researchers at the University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Cancer Centre report in the Cancer Prevention Research. Primary liver cancer, or hepatocellular carcinoma, is an often-deadly form of cancer that is on the rise worldwide and is the fastest-growing cause of cancer-related deaths among American men.

Vitamin E helps diminish fatty liver disease in children

A specific form of vitamin E improved non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), the most severe form of fatty liver disease in some children, according to a study funded by the National Institutes of Health. A previous study found vitamin E effective in some adults with the disease.
