Opinion: Sad to see lawmakers’ total apathy towards the most marginalized section of the society

My disdain for the contemporary politics is no longer a secret. From my columns here and elsewhere, readers would also recognize that one of the major reasons I hold the current lot of politicians entrusted with the task of governance is their total apathy to the major health concerns that continue to bedevil our country.

Mental health bill: Activists seek PMO’s intervention

New Delhi: Unhappy with the new mental health bill prepared by the union health ministry, members of the Disabled Rights Group on Wednesday sought the intervention of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) in addressing their concerns.

Disabled rights activists flay new mental health bill

New Delhi: Calling it “apartheid” against mentally ill people, disabled rights activists on Tuesday criticised the new mental health bill proposed by the union health ministry, saying it would make it easier to forcibly confine a person into a mental asylum.
