Supreme Court appoints three-member committee to oversee the functioning of MCI

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday constituted a three-member committee of Justice R M Lodha (Former Chief Justice of India), Dr Shiv Kumar Sarin (Former Chairman of the Medical Council of India) and Vinod Rai (Former Comptroller and Auditor General of India) to oversee the functioning of the MCI till the Parliament enacts a new law replacing The Medical Council Act, 1956 governing the regulator.

Puducherry MP seeks exemption from common entrance test for medical college admission

Puducherry: R Radhakrishnan, who represents Puducherry constituency in the Lok Sabha, has urged the Central Government to grant exemption to the union territory from the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) for admission to medical colleges.

Madhya Pradesh silent on demand for inquiry into private medical, dental college admissions

New Delhi: Even as the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board, or Vyapam as it is popularly known, asked the Madhya Pradesh government almost two years ago to conduct an inquiry into the admissions in private medical and dental colleges in 2012 and 2013, this never happened, a reply to an RTI query has revealed.
