Moscow: Meril Life Sciences has become the first Indian manufacturer of high-tech implants for traumatology and orthopaedics to begin supply to Russia. The system of primary knee joint arthroplasty, entitled Freedom Total Knee, will be supplied to a number of medical institutions. It was presented to Russian doctors in February 2017 during their visit to India at Meril’s production site in Vapi, Gujarat.
Kharagpur (West Bengal): Dutch orthopaedic bio-engineering expert Nico Verdonschot, a foreign faculty member for India’s Global Initiative of Academic Networks (GIAN) programme, said the country’s technical capabilities could augment the 3D printing sector for profitably manufacturing implants.
Basic issue still remains if the Government’s focus is brought back to health by allocating 4-5 times the current budgetary allocation to it, government hospitals will be in a position to provide superspeciality services at a fraction of market cost and this will slash costs of medicare across the board even in private sector.
