World’s largest toxin database to help develop new drugs

Paris: The European project Venomics has succeeded in creating the largest database of toxins in history after analysing 203 species of poisonous animals, which will in turn help develop new medicines.

Simbrinza approved in EU to treat patients living with glaucoma

Basel (Switzerland): Alcon, a global leader in eye care and a division of Novartis, on Monday announced that Simbrinza eye drops suspension (brinzolamide 10mg/mL and brimonidine tartrate 2mg/mL) has been approved by the European Commission to decrease elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) in adult patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension, for which monotherapy provides insufficient IOP reduction.

Forxiga (Dapagliflozin) approved in European Union for treatment of type 2 diabetes

London: AstraZeneca and Bristol-Myers Squibb have said the European Commission has approved Forxiga (Dapagliflozin) tablets for the treatment of type 2 diabetes in the European Union (EU).
