New Delhi: With the number of cases related to the deaths of children, most recently in Jammu and Kashmir, because of apparent administration of Pentavalent vaccine continues to rise, the vaccine is once again mired in controversy as the issue comes up for hearing in the Supreme Court on November 26 questioning its safety and demand to impose a ban.

Ghulam Nabi Azad presents ICMR Awards to 51 scientists

New Delhi: Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad on Tuesday gave away various awards to 51 scientists for excellent performance in bio-medical research relevant to the needs of the people of the country. The selection for the awards was for the years 2009 and 2010.

A message to young doctors

India’s future lies in evolving into a knowledge society. If we ourselves do not search for solutions for problems faced by our people, no body else would do it for us. Even if the solutions exist, they will never come without a price and may, in turn, not be affordable for or accessible to the most needy among our billion-plus population.

Dr Vinod Paul wins Dr B R Ambedkar Centenary Award for Excellence in Biomedical Research

New Delhi: Dr Vinod K Paul, professor and head, department of paediatrics, All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi has been conferred with the ICMR Dr B R Ambedkar Centenary Award for Excellence in Biomedical Research for 2009. It is the highest award for health sciences research by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
