Five names shortlisted for AIIMS Delhi director

New Delhi: The search-cum-selection committee headed by Union Health Secretary C K Mishra has reportedly shortlisted five names for the post of director of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.

The shortlisted candidates are Dr V K Paul, head of paediatrics; Dr Randeep Guleria, head of pulmonary medicine and sleep disorder; Dr S C Sharma, head of ENT; Dr Balram Bhargava, professor of cardiology at AIIMS, New Delhi and Dr Subrata Sinha, director of National Brain Research Centre (NBRC), Manesar.

The list of shortlisted candidates will now be placed before the Institute Body of AIIMS on January 28. Dr M C Misra, the current director of AIIMS, is set to retire on January 31, reports The Hindu.

Besides the Health Secretary, the selection committee comprised R Chidambaram, Principal Scientific Adviser to Prime Minister; Dr Soumya Swaminathan, Secretary in the Department of Health Research; Dr Jagdish Prasad, Director General of Health Services (DGHS); and Yogesh Tyagi, Vice Chancellor of Delhi University.
