Hospital staff accused of selling human skeletons to medical students

Patna: A “sting operation” has reportedly revealed the mortuary staff of Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH), Muzaffarpur selling human skeletons to medical students for Rs 8,000 to Rs 19,000.

The SKMCH mortuary staff were allegedly found offering rebate to those purchasing three skeletons at a time. The report claimed that the hospital staff sell the skeletons after removing flesh and boiling the bones.

Muzaffarpur civil surgeon Dr Lalita Singh said they would seek a report from SKMCH administration. “Sometimes, medical students need human skeletons for study purpose. We will find out whether rules are being followed while handing over skeletons to the students,” she has been quoted by ToI as saying.
