Dr K K Aggarwal elected as National President of IMA
New Delhi: Dr K K Aggarwal, honorary secretary general of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), has been unanimously elected as the national president of the IMA for the year 2016-17. Dr R N Tandon has been elected as honorary secretary general. The new team will take charge on December 28, 2016 in Amritsar.

Mangaluru (Karnataka): The Indian Medical Association (IMA), Mangaluru branch, and various other associations of specialist doctors have criticised the central government’s move to replace the Medical Council of India (MCI) through the National Medical Commission and said the government cannot do away self-regulation of the profession.
Hyderabad: Two groups of government doctors allegedly clashed at Osmania Medical College (OMC) in Koti on Thursday over appointment of the head of the surgery department. Dr Deen Dayal Bung was on August 19 appointed as head of the surgery department replacing Dr B Nagender. Two days later, Dr Nagender was recalled as the HoD, leading to a hue and cry.
Washington: Dr Naga Raja Thota, 62, was arrested at a medical office in San Diego’s East County on Wednesday, accused of over prescribing opiate painkillers to patients with the intent of getting them addicted. Once the patients were addicted, he would allegedly ask them to engage in sexual relations with him in exchange for more prescriptions.
