Manipal University, Lyon Universite to engage in forensic research

Mangaluru: Manipal University and France’s Universite Claude Bernard Lyon 1 (UCBL) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to engage in research in areas of investigation in crime scene and autopsy technique in medico-legal cases and other cases of sudden deaths.

The broad areas of cooperation include exchange of students and academic personnel, and training programme for residents in forensic medicine. The MoU also envisages conducting joint ventures in toxicological lab, forensic biology and serology, reports ToI.

Daniel Malicier, head of forensic medicine in University Lyon 1, said, “The MoU will contribute to upgrading the training content on pathology and structured approach towards crime cases, undertake research in forensic areas and devise strategies to strengthen the overall environment to combat crime cases and justice both in India and France.”
