Aurangabad health department cracks down on quackery

Aurangabad (Maharashtra): The Aurangabad district health department has issued notices to 139 people suspected to practise medicine in the district without a valid degree and ordered them to submit their degrees and affiliations to the department by July 22.

“If they fail to submit valid documents within the deadline, action would be initiated against them,” the Aurangabad district health officer B T Jamadar has been quoted by ToI as saying.

A high-level committee had checked all clinics in the district and found as many as 139 doctors not having a valid degree of any of the five approved medical courses — MBBS, BDS, BHMS, BAMS, BUMS — under the Medical Act, 1961.
