Meet on sustainable quality healthcare

Sunday, August 25, 2013

New Delhi: Experts will gather here at a FICCI meet on sustainable quality healthcare to discuss challenges the private healthcare sector faces in providing affordable services.

The two-day FICCI HEAL 2013 starts on September 2.

A FICCI release said the conference would discuss hospital planning, infrastructure, operations, innovation in technology and practice and cost of delivery of services.

Integrating and mainstreaming AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy) system of medicine will also be discussed.

The panellists will share insights on the myth that adherence to quality standards will raise the cost.

Senior officials from the ministries of health, finance, communications and IT apart from pharmaceutical professionals and healthcare experts will participate.

Healthcare Excellence Awards 2013 will be announced on the first day.

Rajen Padukone, co-chair, FICCI Health Services Committee, said policies promoting meaningful collaboration between private and public sectors were required.

The conference will seek to formulate realistic recommendations on the way forward.

Sangita Reddy, chairperson of FICCI Health Services Committee, said the need of the hour was to create an environment where public and private ventures could work sustainably towards providing quality care to people. [IANS]
