New Delhi: All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Raipur, is all set to start classes for the first batch of 50 students from September 24, while AIIMS Patna will start its classes from Sep 25.
Classes at AIIMS Bhubaneswar, AIIMS Rishikesh, AIIMS Bhopal and AIIMS Jodhpur began on Sep 21, Sep 20, Sep 18 and Sep 17, respectively. The six ‘AIIMS New Delhi’ like institutes are being set-up across the country by the union health ministry under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY).
The admission to these colleges has already been given on the basis of the AIIMS undergraduate admission test, which was conducted a few months back under the supervision of AIIMS New Delhi. While the colleges are being started from this year, the hospitals are likely to start functioning from next year.
The existing facilities are being made for 50 students in each college with plans to double the seats by the next academic session. Each hospital will have 960 beds, including 500 beds for the medical college hospital, 300 beds for speciality/super speciality and 100 beds for ICU/trauma. [Source: Pioneer]
