Dr Naresh Trehan recognised as Healthcare Entrepreneur of 2011

Mumbai: Dr Naresh Trehan, chairman, Medanta – The Medicity, has been recognised as the healthcare entrepreneur of the year, while Dr B Soma Raju, chairman, Care Hospitals, has received the lifetime achievement award at Alexandria-Frost & Sullivan India Healthcare Excellence Awards 2011. Fortis Hospitals, Healthcare Global Enterprises, Manipal Hospitals and Vasan Healthcare were recognised as the healthcare company of the year providing general health care, oncology care, mother and child care and eye care services respectively.

“As per our credo of analysing and recognising excellence, we adopted a comprehensive and rigorous methodology to honour the best in class,” Sandeep Sinha, director, healthcare practice, South Asia and Middle East, Frost & Sullivan, has said. “These awards have a wider context in terms of our recipients touching one of the basic aspects of human well being, that is, health and also working towards making the country a healthier and productive nation through their products and services.”

The jury for the Alexandria-Frost & Sullivan India Healthcare Excellence Awards included Dr Arun Mullaji, orthopaedic surgeon, Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital; Dr Chadha Manoj Dharam, endocrinologist, Hinduja Hospital; Dr Jamshed J Dalal, director, cardiac sciences, Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital; Dr Nilesh Shah, chairman, N M Diagnostics; Dr Prafulla G Kerkar, head of the cardiology department, KEM Hospital; and Dr Uday Patil, senior consultant, radiology, Manipal Hospitals.
