Supreme Court slaps Rs 1.4 crore fine on two doctors for providing medical shelter to murder accused
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday slapped a fine of Rs 70 lakh each on Dr K S Sachdev, managing director and Dr Munish Prabhakar, medical director, of Privat Hospital, Gurugram for allowing former Haryana MLA Balbir Singh, against whom non-bailable warrants had been issued in a murder case, to remain in the hospital for 527 days without any justifiable reason.

Last week, the Supreme Court of India, in a landmark judgement, directed the State of Chhattisgarh to release a lady convicted of killing her four-year-old daughter after 13 years in prison. In the landmark judgement, Justice A K Sikri and Justice A M Sapre found that the lady in question was suffering from a disorder which would suggest that she was plagued with insanity at the time the crime was committed.
New Delhi: Dr Kunal Saha whose petition against the West Bengal Medical Council for not taking any disciplinary action against Dr Sukumar Mukherjee considered responsible for the death of Dr Saha’s wife, Anuradha Saha, was rejected by the Supreme Court on Friday, has said he will file a review petition against the court’s decision.
