Who will save the doctors?

New Delhi: Recent incidents in Maharashtra have posed a serious threat to a whole professional community who are regarded as our lifesavers. In two weeks, there were at least three reported incidents of violence against resident doctors in Dhule, Nashik and Sion. In all of the three cases, relatives of deceased patients abused and assaulted doctors without being met with any repercussions.

Protest against increased duration of MBBS enters its second day

New Delhi: In a significant development on the second day of protest by medical students at Nirman Bhawan here, Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad met representatives of government medical college students and the Resident Doctors Associations (RDAs) and gave them a verbal assurance that their demands would be looked into.

Ghulam Nabi Azad to decide on sacked AIIMS doctor’s reinstatement

The union health minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, who is president of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), will decide on the future of a sacked doctor, Dr Shejoy P Joshua, who was cleared of charges of sexually harassing a boy under his treatment, official sources said on Tuesday, the second day of a fast by the medico’s ex-colleagues.

CAT dismisses plea to scrap AIIMS online test for medical courses

The Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) has dismissed the plea of resident doctors of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi seeking of scrapping the online test conducted by AIIMS for admission to super speciality courses of different medical colleges.

Lady Hardinge doctors call off strike; AIIMS doctors threaten to go on mass leave

Four days after staying off duty, resident doctors of Lady Hardinge Medical College and Sucheta Kriplani Hospital resumed work on Monday afternoon. The resident doctors had been protesting since last Thursday against the alleged manhandling of a senior resident doctor by a driver of the hospital on the evening of March 30. In a similar incident, resident doctors at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Monday threatened to go on mass leave if the security within hospital premises was not beefed up.
