Noida: Jaypee Hospital, a multi super specialty hospital in Noida, created two green corridors to give a new life to six people. A heart, liver, two corneas and both kidneys were donated by a brain dead patient admitted in the hospital.

Private hospitals should stop making profit out of transplants: Dr P Venugopal | Unsafe ambulances crippling India’s healthcare

Dr P Venugopal, who did the first successful heart transplant procedure in India in August 1994, has said private hospitals should stop making profit out of transplants. The cost of organ transplant varies between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 30 lakh for a heart transplant from one private hospital to another, although the organ is obtained for free and most transplant procedures do not require any imported material.

Maharashtra bars foreigners from receiving organs donated by Indian citizens

Nagpur: The state government has reportedly amended laws for organ donation under which now organs donated by Indian citizens can no longer be transplanted in bodies of foreigners.
