New tissue expander for women undergoing breast reconstruction following mastectomy

Washington: The US Food and Drug Administration on Wednesday allowed marketing of a new tissue expander system for soft tissue expansion in two-stage breast reconstruction following mastectomy and in the treatment of underdeveloped breasts and soft tissue deformities. A patient uses a dose controller to independently inflate the expander.

Delhi doctors implant pacemaker in lower abdominal cavity of second time cancer survivor

New Delhi: In a very rare and unusual surgery, which is probably only the third such case in India, a team of doctors at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute (FEHI) here has achieved a feat of implanting a pacemaker into the lower abdominal cavity of a 68-year-old woman. What is further intriguing is the fact that the patient, Naseema Begum, is a second time cancer survivor.
