New Delhi: Dr Tehemton Erach Udwadia, a renowned medical teacher, noted gastroenterologist and widely regarded as the father of laparoscopic surgery in India, has been selected for Padma Bhushan, the country’s third highest civilian award, for his contributions to Indian medicine. He is among the 89 notable personalities to get Padma awards in 2017.

Doctor ordered to pay Rs 10 lakh as compensation for transplanting ‘tainted’ kidney

Mumbai: The Maharashtra State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission on Tuesday ordered Dr Vatsala Trivedi, a senior urologist, to pay a compensation of Rs 10 lakh to the mother of a 33-year-old man who died 72 days after a kidney transplant in 2009.
