Lucknow: Dr Surya Kant Tripathi, professor and head of the department of pulmonary medicine at King George Medical University (KGMU), will be honoured with the Vigyan Gaurav Samman, the highest honour in science awarded by the Uttar Pradesh government.
On June 2, 2016, the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court decreed that doctors at King George’s Medical University (KGMU), Lucknow would pay for the death of patients caused by their four-day strike. As per the TOI, about 350 KGMU junior doctors protested against fresh admissions in PG courses, based on additional marks to candidates of provincial medical health services who had served in rural areas.

Hyderabad: Genital tuberculosis (TB) is one of the major causes of tubal infertility. Studies show that only two per cent of women with genital TB have live births. Genital TB is usually asymptomatic so needs higher degree of clinical suspicion so that accurate and confirmed diagnosis of TB can be made and standard anti-TB treatment provided as early as possible. But the challenge is that current range of standard diagnostic tests are less likely to pick up every case of genital TB.
