ICMR researchers complete phase III clinical trials of a long-term use reversible male contraceptive

New Delhi: Researchers at the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) have completed the phase III clinical trials of Risug, a long-term use reversible male contraceptive, on 282 volunteers in five centres across India, and zero side-effects and difficulties have been reported, according to Dr R S Sharma, head of reproductive biology and maternal health at ICMR.

MS, three others arrested over hospital fire in Odisha | Doctors split hairs on generic-name directive

Odisha Police has arrested medical superintendent and three other staff of SUM hospital on charges of “homicide not amounting to murder” and negligence over a deadly fire that broke out in the dialysis ward of the hospital on Monday leaving 20 people dead.

ICMR, IIT Kharagpur student exchange programme to enable research in medical technology

Kolkata: The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur have signed an agreement under which engineering students of IIT Kharagpur will study at the ICMR, while doctors from the medical research body will visit the engineering institute to enable research in medical technology.

‘India’s technical capability can support 3D printing’

Bangalore: A group of students from IIT Kharagpur has won the sixth edition of ‘GE Edison Challenge’ for their solution that proposed a hardware software co-designed mobile phone app for fast and accurate diagnosis of skin cancers and related abnormalities, enabling high-precision point-of-care healthcare delivery in resource constrained base of pyramid and rural populations.

IIT Kharagpur wins 2nd prize at Healthcare Innovation World Cup 2013

New Delhi: A non-invasive blood glucose measurement device being developed by a team of researchers from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur has won the second prize at the finals of Healthcare Innovation World Cup held recently in New York. The device is aimed at enabling painless, sample-free and accurate glucose measurement for people suffering from diabetes.

IIT Kharagpur gets closer to its dream project Dr B C Roy Institute of Medical Science & Research

Kolkata: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur has received financial approval of Rs 230 crore for a 400-bed super-speciality hospital, which will be later upgraded to 750-bed. The hospital, expected to become operational within two years, will be a part of IIT Kharagpur’s dream project Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy Institute of Medical Science and Research.

IIT Kharagpur plans to start MBBS, MS, MD courses

Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur is in the process of starting MBBS, MS and MD courses on its campus. The institution will submit a detailed project report to the union human resource development ministry next month in this regard.
