Washington: A market study recently released by Transparency Market Research (TMR) estimates the global medical tourism market to rise at a CAGR (compound annual growth rate) of 17.90% from 2013 to 2019 and reach a value of $32.5 billion by the end of 2019.

Robotic surgery to cure apnoea beamed live to doctors worldwide

Mumbai: Over 2,000 doctors across the world viewed a real-time live robotic surgery performed on two patients at the Asian Heart Institute here on Tuesday to cure them of obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) or stoppage of breathing during sleep.

Asian Heart Institute completes training its doctors to implant artificial heart

Mumbai: Asian Heart Institute (AHI) has completed training its team of doctors to implant an artificial heart — a tiny mechanized device weighing 400 grams — in patients of heart failure. Globally over 10,000 people are believed to be living with the device that runs on rechargeable batteries.
