AIIMS-like Institutions or Medical Education without Faculty

If media reports are anything to go by even the AIIMS (the old and the new ones) are now struggling to recruit faculty. One has to wonder if this is the situation for AIIMS, what is happening to our state medical colleges and of course the private ones? Are medical students in India really getting the education they deserve or are we just giving them the degrees?

Indian Medical Education — A Story of Negligence and Decline

It is high time that India conducts a ‘Flexner reform’ of its own. Research and innovation should be encouraged at student level along with the incorporation of modern teaching and training methodology and tools. The government also needs to crack down on medical colleges working without an infrastructure and either shut them down or revamp them with modern standards. Medical education should transition from singular rote learning to a more holistic approach that can benefit the nation in long run.

UCMS: The cradle of healing, learning & research in health sciences

The University College of Medical Sciences (UCMS, Delhi has been ranked by India Today as India’s fifth Best Medical College for the year 2017. The top four medical colleges are All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi; Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune; Christian Medical College (CMC), Vellore; and Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC), New Delhi.

PGI Chandigarh to have two deans, one for academics and another for research

UP Chief Minister asks officials to set-up 25 medical colleges, 6 AIIMS-like institutes in the state

Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has asked officials to work on developing 25 medical colleges in the state in the next five years as well as establish AIIMS-like institutes in six regions of the state.

Parliamentary committee asks health ministry to fill vacancies at AIIMS

New Delhi: A parliamentary panel has asked the union health ministry to put in additional efforts to reduce the number of vacancies at the All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi so that it can maintain the status of institute of national importance.

No courtroom exposure to medical students as MCI doesn’t prescribe it: AIIMS

New Delhi: In a shocking revelation to an RTI query, AIIMS Delhi & Rishikesh and other medical colleges of the country have informed that they are not taking MBBS medical students to court for giving exposure to court room procedures of recording of medical evidence in order to teach medico-legal practices as the Medical Council of India (MCI) doesn’t mandate it.

AIIMS resident doctors extend support to DDU doctors on strike
