Three “fake doctors” arrested for practising medicine without having valid degrees

Saturday, May 13, 2017

Kolkata: Three “fake doctors” have been arrested within a span of past 10 days from state-run healthcare units and the police believe there could be several more fake doctors working in health institutions across the state.

Sleuths of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) investigating the case put the number of fake doctors, who got employment on the basis of forged documents, in the state to anywhere between 20 and 50.

Quoting CID sources, HT reports that while Kaiser Alam and Snehasis Chakraborty produced fake MBBS degrees to get the government job, Khushinath Haldar secured the job without producing any documents at all.

Alam was employed in a primary health centre in Chopra in North Dinajpur. Chakraborty was working at Dhumpara primary health centre in Jalpaiguri. Haldar was employed in Madarihat primary health centre in Alipurduar district.
