PGI Chandigarh to have two deans, one for academics and another for research

Saturday, May 13, 2017

Chandigarh: The Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) will soon have two deans – one for academics (Dean 1) and another for research (Dean 2). The move is expected to boost research at the institute.

A proposal in this regard was approved by the institute’s governing body, chaired by Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda, in a meeting held in New Delhi on Thursday.

The proposal was made on the pattern of the AIIMS, which has two deans. Dr S Varma, current PGIMER dean is retiring in July. The decision to have two deans at PGIMER will be implemented post his retirement only, reports HT.
