Lokayukta seeks report over government doctor conducting operation in private hospital

Jaipur: Lokayukta S S Kothari has sought a report from the state health secretary and medical superintendent of SMS Hospital over the action of the government hospital’s Dr Vinod Sharma who reportedly pressurised the relatives of a patient to admit her at a private hospital and then conducted the operation there after taking Rs 50,000 as his fees. The private hospital also charged Rs 60,000.

As per news reports, the patient, Rajjo Devi, was admitted to SMS Hospital on April 10 following brain haemorrhage. On the advice of Dr Vinod Sharma of SMS Hospital, she was shifted to Amar Hospital at Mansarovar and an operation was conducted by him. But seeing her condition deteriorating, she was shifted back to SMS Hospital on April 15 and the next day she died, reports ToI.
