Dr Ranjit Roy Chaudhury honoured with Lifetime Achievement Award

New Delhi: The Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), Healthcare Excellence Awards, 2013 has conferred the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ to Dr Ranjit Roy Chaudhury.

Dr Roy Chaudhury is currently chairman of the clinical trials and ethics sub-committee set up by the union ministry of health and family welfare. He is also chairman of the task force for research, Apollo Hospitals Educational and Research Foundation (AHERF).

Dr Chaudhury received the award here on September 2. Speaking on the occasion he said, “I am immensely overwhelmed and honoured to receive this prestigious award by FICCI. It is an acknowledgement of the efforts of a large group of colleagues who have worked with me for the last many years.”

“Health has to be interpreted as a total quality of life and by setting up the best practices in the field of ethics in medical practice and rational use of drugs. My endeavour has always been to set new yardsticks in the healthcare segment especially in medical teaching and health planning for the country,” he added.

Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences, New Delhi and Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, New Delhi won the award for operational excellence in the public and private sectors respectively.

The award for operational excellence in the small healthcare organization categories went to Bardoli Satyagrah Hospital and Community Health Centre, Surat (public sector) and Renupower Hospital, Sonebhadra (private sector).

Dr Narottam Puri was conferred with the healthcare personality of the year award. P D Hinduja Hospital and Medical Research Centre, Mumbai and Fortis Hospital, Mulund received the special jury recognition for their ‘Care @ Home’ and ‘Celebrating YOU’ initiatives respectively.

The other awardees included Dr Gulati Imaging Institute, New Delhi (diagnostics – radiology and imaging), SRL (diagnostics – pathology lab), Vyzin Electronics (medical technology), Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and Research Centre, Cochin (CSR project) and Vittala International Institute of Ophthalmology, Bangalore.

The FICCI Healthcare Excellence Awards aims at felicitating organizations and individuals for their contributions to the industry by innovating for increased efficiency, affordability and improved performance of healthcare delivery at large.
