Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Saturday laid the foundation stone of Lord Buddha International Institute of Medical Sciences, a private medical college and hospital being built by Patna based maxillofacial surgeon Dr Alok Kumar at Devkuli near Beldarichak on Patna-Gaya road.
The college is expected to start its first batch from March 2015. In the first phase, it would have 100 seats for MBBS and a hospital of 300 beds, with plans to expand it to 900 beds and 250 MBBS seats. Apart from MBBS, the college would also run courses in dental sciences, nursing, pharmacy and paramedical.
This would be 5th private medical college in the state. “According to national norms, there should be 20 medical colleges and hospitals in Bihar. Apart from six government-owned medical colleges and a few private institutes, we still need around 10 more,” said Nitish Kumar. [Source: Telegraph]
