New Delhi: Dr Shena Aggarwal, who holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), has topped the Union Public Service Commission’s (UPSC) Civil Services Examination 2011.
The UPSC on Friday announced the results of the civil services (Main) Examination 2011. A total 910 candidates, including 715 male and 195 female, have been declared qualified for India’s prestigious civil services. Among top 25, there are 19 males and 6 female candidates.
Daughter of Dr C K Aggarwal (a dentist) and Pinki Aggarwal (a housewife), Dr Shena Aggarwal had also topped the CBSE PMT in 2004. She secured 95 per cent marks in Class 10th and 92 per cent in Class 12th. She studied at Sant Nischal Singh Public School at Yamuna Nagar in Haryana and Dayanand Public School at Nabha in Punjab.
The selected candidates of the UPSC Civil Services Examination will be appointed to Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS) and Central Services, Group A and Group B, according to their merit list.
The Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination, 2011, which was conducted on 12 June, 2011 had witnessed the participation of 2,43,003 candidates, out of which 11,984 candidates were declared qualified for the Main written examination held in October-November, 2011 and later 2,417 candidates were selected for the Personality Test conducted in March-April, 2012.
Dr Shena Aggarwal (Roll No. 233541) topped the Civil Services Exam, 2011 in her third attempt. In the Civil Services Examination 2010, Dr Aggarwal had secured 305th Rank and was selected for the Indian Revenue Services (IRS) and is going under training at Nagpur in Maharashtra.
